What types of balances can I transfer?

You can transfer balances from other credit cards (including Visa®, Mastercard®, and retail credit cards) and personal loans.

You will not be able to transfer a balance from another TDECU credit card or loan.

Can I transfer my TDECU balances to a TDECU credit card?

Unfortunately, no. We only accept loan and credit card balances from other financial institutions.

How long after receiving my TDECU credit card do I have to initiate a balance transfer?

TDECU credit card holders may initiate a balance transfer at any time. However, to receive the 0% introductory APR on transferred balances, you must submit your request within 30 days of opening your account.1

How can I request a balance transfer?

The most efficient way to request a balance transfer, is to submit a balance transfer request online, through Digital Banking. Learn more about making an online balance transfer request with this TDECU blog.

Can I transfer the balance of more than one credit card or personal loan to my TDECU credit card?

Yes! Simply submit a request for each credit card or loan you would like to transfer.

How are my payments applied after I transfer a balance to my TDECU credit card?

We will apply your payments first to any outstanding finance charges, interest or other fees first, then to your principal balance with the highest APR.1

How long does it take for my balances to transfer to my TDECU credit card?

If your lender can accept the balance transfer request via ACH (automated clearing house), your balances should appear on your TDECU credit card within 7 to 10 business days. If your lender does not accept ACH, then a check will be issued. This process may take up to 30 days.

What happens if I do not pay off my balance within the 0% APR introductory1 period?

One of the benefits of transferring an existing balance to a TDECU credit card is our 0% APR introductory offer. This means you won’t have to pay interest on transferred balances for 12 months.1

However, after the introductory offer term, you will have to pay interest on the remaining balance. Make sure to read your card’s terms and conditions carefully to understand the change to your APR after the 12-month period.
