TDECU Buc-ee’s® Platinum Visa® FAQs

What is happening to my current Mastercard credit card?

Your current TDECU Credit Card is transitioning from Mastercard to Visa. As part of this change, you will receive a new card with updated features and benefits.

I don’t have a TDECU Mastercard, why was my current TDECU Visa Credit Card replaced?

Your current TDECU Visa Credit Card is being upgraded as part of the TDECU Visa transition. As part of this change, you will receive a new card with updated features and benefits.

Will my credit card information change?

Yes, your credit card number, expiration date, and security code (CVV) will be different on your new card. However, your PIN will not change.

What else is changing?

Your new Credit Card will have a new plastic design, a contactless tap to pay feature, and new Cash Rewards Benefits.

The new Credit Card was assigned based on your spending behavior; you will receive a new card that will offer additional benefits including accruing Cash Rewards and may offer additional savings.

We have included new benefits for Buc-ee's fans, and you can continue enjoying your benefits when you pay with your card for fuel or in-store purchases.

Can I opt out of the new credit card without penalty?

If you prefer not to receive a new Visa credit card, you may close your current credit card account by the applicable date listed below for your card type. Please note that any remaining balance on your account will still need to be repaid according to the terms of your agreement.

Wave 1 and 2 – Credit Cards accounts transitioning to a Platinum Visa and Business Visa must be closed by August 31, 2026.

Wave 3 – Credit Cards accounts transitioning to a TDECU Onyx Visa Signature and Visa Secured Credit Cards must be closed by September 30, 2026.

Wave 4 – Credit Cards accounts transitioning to a Buc-ee’s Visa Signature and Buc-ee’s Platinum Credit Cards must be closed by October 30, 2026.

Do I have a choice on which credit card I receive?

The new Credit Card was assigned based on your spending behavior. No changes are available during the transition. If you wish to choose a different card type after you receive your new Visa Credit Card, you can call or visit a Member Center to request a change of product any time, or a new application will need to be submitted starting August 18.

Do I need to activate my new credit card?

Yes, once you receive your new TDECU Credit Card, you will need to activate it by signing into TDECU Digital Banking or by calling (800) 631-3197. This number is listed on the sticker on the front of the card. Please be sure to have your new card on hand. It is also important to note that once you activate your new card, your current one will automatically deactivate.

When does my current credit card stop working?

All TDECU Mastercards will deactivate on January 4, 2027. TDECU Business Mastercards will deactivate on November 20, 2026.

Will both credit cards be open at the same time?

Yes. There will be a short overlap, but we recommend activating your new card as soon as you receive it.

What should I do with my current credit card?

Once your new card is active, securely dispose of your current card by cutting it up.

How is this change going to impact my Credit Score?

We will not obtain or otherwise use your credit report as part of this process. The conversion from Mastercard to Visa will show up as an upgrade/change of product in your credit report. The credit limit will remain the same on your new Visa credit card.

Account and Balance Continuity

What will happen to my account balance?

Your balance will automatically transfer to your new account as of your transfer date. No action is needed.

What happens to my payment due date?

Your payment due date will stay the same.

Will my APR, fees, or credit line change?

While your APR and credit limit will stay the same, some fees will be changing.

Buc-ee’s Signature Visa will have a $50.00 annual fee charged on the anniversary date.

For all other cards, the new fee structure will be as follows:

Late Payment: Up to $25.00
Returned Payment: Up to $25.00

Transaction Fees
Balance Transfer Fee: 5% of the balance transfer amount
Phone Payment Fee: Up to $10.00 is charged when making a payment by phone
Rush Shipping Fee: $37.50 per plastic for rush cards
Cash Advance Fee: 5% minimum fee of $10.00
Foreign Transaction Fee: 2% of the total purchase amount in U.S. dollars
Paper Statement Fee: $5.00 per statement

Rewards Program Changes

Will I lose my Cash Rewards?

No, all Cash Rewards you have earned will be rolled over to your new Visa credit card.

Is the rewards structure changing?

Yes. You can view the associated Cash Rewards offerings for each new Visa card program starting August 18, 2026, at www.tdecu.org/rewards

Autopay and Recurring Transactions

Will my AutoPay settings carry over to my new card?

Yes, automatic payments set up through Digital Banking will be transferred automatically to your new account.

Do I need to update my subscriptions?

Yes. If you have your credit card number saved with merchants (such as Amazon or Netflix), you will need to update your payment information with your new card details.

I have my Credit Card information saved on websites, will that still work?

No, you will have to update your new credit card information as your credit card number, expiration date, and CVV will change.

Digital Wallets and Online Access

Will my credit cards still work on Apple Pay and/or Google Pay?

No, you will need to update your new credit card information as your card number, expiration date, and CVV will be different from your current card.

Will Digital Banking look different?

No, you can continue to use Digital Banking as you have been. The only change will be that you will see both cards for your reference until January 4, 2027, for all consumer cards and November 20,2026 for Business Credit Cards. After this period, your Visa Credit Card will be the only card you can see in Digital Banking.

How long will I still be able to access my current TDECU Credit Card online?

You will be able to access your current TDECU Mastercard Credit Card through our Digital Banking platform until the deactivation date. All historical statements will still be available online afterwards.

When can I first access my new credit card online?

Once you receive your new card in the mail and activate it, you will be able to access it online.

Fraud and Security Concerns

I received a new Credit Card without requesting it. Is this a scam?

We will send your new Visa credit card along with information about your new benefits in a TDECU branded envelope. This is a legitimate upgrade from TDECU. You can always verify by visiting tdecu.org, contacting our Member Care Team at (800) 839-1154, or asking one of our team members at your preferred Member Center.

Timing and Communication

When will I get my new credit card?

You can expect to receive your Visa credit card within 10 days of your conversion date. This date will be shared with you within your 30-day notification letter.

What if I never receive my new card?

If you do not receive your new Visa credit card within 10 business days, contact our Member Care Team at (800) 839-1154 or visit your local Member Center for assistance.

What if my new credit card doesn’t work?

If your new credit card does not work after activation, please contact our Member Care Team at (800) 839-1154 or visit your local Member Center to request a replacement.

Who do I contact if something goes wrong?

For personalized support, our Member Care Team is available Monday – Friday, 8 am – 6 pm, and Saturday 9 am – 6 pm to help with any questions or issues with your new credit card.

Will I get reminders if I haven’t activated my new card?

We might receive emails or messages through online banking to remind you to activate your card.

Spending, Limits, and Authorizations

Will my credit limit change?

No, your credit limit will remain the same.

Can I increase my credit line during this transition?

No. Credit line increases are temporarily unavailable during the transition time for your Mastercard. Once you receive your new Visa credit card, you may apply for a credit limit increase.

Can I decrease my credit line during this transition?

Yes, you can decrease your credit limit by calling or visiting your preferred Member Center location.

Will pending transactions still go through?

Yes, transactions made before the transition will still be processed normally.

Transactions made before you receive your new TDECU Visa Credit Card will go through under your current TDECU Mastercard Credit Card program and current rewards.

Can I still use my current TDECU Mastercard Credit Card before the new one arrives?

Yes, you will be able to keep using your TDECU Mastercard Credit Card as usual until your deactivation date. Remember, once you activate your new card, your old card will automatically deactivate.

Statements and Payments

Will I still be able to access past statements and transaction history?

Yes, you’ll still have access to your previous statements and transaction history. You will receive your final statement for your current TDECU Mastercard Credit Card in.

Will my statement cycle change?

No, you will keep the same statement cycle dates.

Can I still make credit card payments during the conversion period?

Yes, you can continue to make payments during the conversion period. Any payment scheduled before you activate your new TDECU Visa Credit Card will still be completed.

You will be able to continue to make online payments through Digital Banking or our Member Care Team at (800) 839-1154.

Authorized Users and Joint Accounts

Will joint owners and authorized users receive new Visa credit cards?

Yes, they will receive new cards as part of the transition.

You can review current joint owners or authorized users on your credit card by visiting your local Member Center or contacting our Member Care Team at (800) 839-1154.

Will joint owner and authorized user card numbers change too?

Yes, their card numbers, expiration date, and CVV will also change. However, their PIN will remain the same.

Will joint owner and authorized user access change?

No, their access will remain the same.
