Ready for Some Fun in the Sun
Rising temps may have you itching to get your boat out and in the water. Boating is a recreation enjoyed by many around our area. But before you drop anchor, there are a few things to consider.
Give your Boat a Good Inspection
With the nice boating weather upon us, it could be quite tempting to just jump into that boat and take off. Before you do, make sure you give your boat a good look over. Check the hull for cracks and damages as well as the battery, radios and fish finders. And check the oil and make sure it’s at the proper level and is clean.
Don’t Forget About the Boat Trailer
Although you only use the boat trailer to transport your boat to water, it is important you check it for any damage. Take a look at the frame and make sure it is sturdy and not rusted. The trailer tires should be properly inflated and in good condition. And if you haven’t used the trailer since last year, the wheel bearings may need a few squirts of grease for a smooth ride. Be sure to also check the lighting system to make certain people will see you when you are intending to turn or stop while driving.
Safety Check
Ensure all safety equipment is in proper working order. This includes first aid supplies, life jackets, flares and the fire extinguisher.
