Spring is Here – Prepare your home for the season – Inside and Out
Your home is your most valuable asset. So why not be proud of it while feeling comfortable inside of it? After all, it seems like you spend most of your time at the office, all the more reason to have a nice refreshing space to come back to.
Inside Your Home
Get in the habit of de-cluttering your space, and tidying up all your stuff! Getting your home in order can put you back in charge of your living space. Like most, you probably have some old documents, toys, and photos just lying around. Getting your home in order can put you back in charge of your living space.
Speaking of old documents, TDECU can help you get rid of them safely and securely – stop by TDECU’s 4th Annual Shred Day on Saturday, May 15, from 9am – 1pm at the Lake Jackson and Victoria Mockingbird Branches.
Box up old clothing to donate to your favorite charity. Get rid of anything you have not worn in the last two years. There are many charities that would be more than happy to have them.
Clean out your refrigerator – throw out any foods with an expired date. This should be done at least once a quarter to ensure your family is not eating foods and condiments that are spoiled and could potentially harm you.
Outside Your Home
Walk through the yard with a lawn bag and pick up the large limbs that may have fallen during winter and can be a hazard. Go ahead and prune everything back for the Spring season.
Do a gutter check to make sure they are securely in place, then clean out all the leaves and debris that gathered from winter.
Cleaning outdoor windows is quite a chore, but you can make the job quicker and easier by rinsing off the loose dirt using gentle pressure with the water hose. By doing this first, you won’t scratch the windows as you clean them. Mix together a cleaning solution of dishwashing liquid and water for lightly soiled windows. You can add vinegar or ammonia for windows with heavier soil. Wet your sponge to clean the windows then swipe the window with a Squeegee. Dry the excess moisture from your outdoor windows by using a stiff paper towel or cotton cloth. For streak-free windows, newspaper does the trick.
Once you’ve organized and cleaned everything and gotten rid of the clutter and winter dust, you’ll enjoy Springtime that much more.
