Is your boat ready for Spring?
The rising temps may have you itching to get that boat out and in the water. Boating is a recreation enjoyed by many around our area. But before you drop anchor, there are a few things to consider.
Look over the boat.
Make sure you check the hull for cracks and damages. Check the electronics including the battery, radios and fish finders. The oil should be checked to ensure it is at the proper level and is clean.
Check the boat trailer.
Take a look at the frame and make sure it is sturdy and not rusted. The trailer tires should be properly inflated and in good condition. The wheel bearings may need a few squirts of grease. Be sure to check the lighting system to ensure people will see you when you are intending to turn or stop.
Handle the necessities.
Ensure all safety equipment is in proper working order. This includes first aid supplies, life jackets, flares and the fire extinguisher.
Protect your investment.
Take responsibility for your boat and protect yourself and others – make sure you have insurance. A boat insurance policy is very affordable and will ensure you are covered in case an accident happens. Policies include physical damage to your boat, medical payments in case you are hurt and property damage. We also cover jet skis, ATVs and other summer toys.
