Just wondering, why would the rate be more for checking than for savings? Seems kind of backwards. Shouldn't people be rewarded for saving?

Mike, that’s a good question. Relative to our checking account, based on today’s rates we actually offer higher rates for other deposit products including certificates of deposit and money market accounts, for example.

Our basic share savings account is what establishes membership in the credit union, and we have other savings-type products. As many people use a checking account rather than savings account for day to day transactions, the bump up of our checking rate offers checking account holders a higher rate. If you’re looking for a higher rate on more traditional savings-purpose accounts, our other deposit products could be a great fit.
