I saw some interesting data today on Bankrate.com. Looking at 11 Houston-area financial institutions, the average interest rate paid on checking is, as of today, 0.219% plus average monthly fees of $9.
TDECU members rejoice! Today we upped our interest rate on checking accounts to .75% APY and the kicker is there's no minimum balance to earn interest or monthly fees on the account.
Pretty good, eh?!
